Biography

Titian (Tiziano Vecellio) was born in 1488 in Pieve di Cadore. He became one of the foremost representatives of the Venetian school of painting and the High Renaissance. Titian was known for his works on religious and mythological themes and was recognized as a master of portrait painting. His artistic output encompassed genres such as nudes, historical, and religious paintings. Over the course of his career, he created numerous notable works including "The Venus of Urbino," "Pope Paul III with Nephews Alessandro and Ottavio Farnese," and "The Crowning with Thorns." Titian passed away on September 26, 1576, in Venice. His contribution to Renaissance art is acknowledged alongside other great masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, and Michelangelo.
