Biography

Eugène Henri Paul Gauguin was born on June 7, 1848, in Paris. He was a French painter, sculptor, ceramist, and printmaker. Throughout his artistic career, Gauguin combined several styles, including post-Impressionism, symbolism, synthetism, cloisonnism, and primitivism, and was linked to the Pont-Aven school. His works encompass a variety of genres such as portrait, landscape, still life, and scenes of everyday life, as well as the creation of figurines. Among Paul Gauguin's notable works are "The Yellow Christ," "Spirit of the Dead Watching," "Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going?" and "Tahitian Women on the Beach," among others. He also worked as an illustrator, draftsman, and engraver. Paul Gauguin passed away on May 9, 1903, in Atuona. His artistic contributions hold significant importance for French art.
