Paul Cézanne (January 19, 1839 – October 22, 1906) was a French painter and one of the leading representatives of Post-Impressionism. His work is notable for its distinctiveness, which led to the emergence of the term “Cézannism”—an unofficial art movement named after him. Cézanne's artwork opened the way to Cubism, considered one of the directions of modernism. He was born and died in Aix-en-Provence, France. Throughout his career, he created works in various genres, including genre painting, still lifes, landscapes, and portraits. In addition to painting, he was a lithographer, graphic artist, draftsman, and engraver.
