Masayu Anastasia

Biography

In 1999 a fifteen-year-old girl from Jakarta took second place in a cover girl contest held by the magazine “Aneka Yess!” together with the television channel RCTI. Her career in the entertainment industry began with that contest.

Masayu Anastasia was born on 19 January 1984 in Jakarta. Nothing is known of her childhood or schooling, and I would rather not guess at it; all that is known is that she came into the worlds of modelling and acting as a teenager. She made her film debut in the early 2000s. “Buruan Cium Gue” came out in 2004, “Selamanya” in 2007 and “Kawin Kontrak” in 2008. These were followed by “Pengantin Topeng” and “Laskar Pemimpi” (both 2010), “Susah Jaga Keperawanan di Jakarta” (2010), and “Cinta di Saku Celana” and “Rayya, Cahaya Diatas Cahaya” (both 2012). The film titles are kept in their Indonesian spelling, as there are no established English versions. Her name is most closely tied to television. She appeared in the series “Janji Hati”, “Jangan Ucapkan Cinta”, “ABG”, “Setetes Embun”, “Gengsi Gede-Gedean”, “Doiku Beken”, “Karunia-Mu”, “Haruskah Ku Mati”, “Laila”, “Inikah Cinta”, “Cinta Merah Jambu”, “Aku Bukan Dia”, “Dewa” and “Putri yang Ditukar”. Later her list grew to include “Itsnaini” (2012), “Putri Bidadari” (2012–2013) and “Cinta di Langit Taj Mahal” (2015). The release years of most of the earlier series are unknown.

Another strand of her work is made-for-television films (FTV): “Cinta 117 kg”, “Cinta Ke 50” with Calvin Ray, “Bos Ku Malang Bos Ku Sayang” with Vino Bastian, “Sopir Taksi Jatuh Cinta” with Mike Lewis, “Suamimu Suamiku Juga” with Adam Jordan and “Juleha Kaya Mendadak” with Ibnu Jamil.

As a model she appeared in music videos for the band Peterpan and the performer Ressa Herlambang. She also worked as a brand ambassador.
