Georges Seurat

Biography

Georges-Pierre Seurat was a French Impressionist painter and the founder of Neo-Impressionism. He created an original painting technique known as Divisionism or Pointillism. Seurat was born on December 2, 1859, in Paris, in the former 5th arrondissement of the city. Throughout his artistic career, he worked in several genres, including portrait, landscape, and genre painting. In addition to painting, he was also a draftsman and architectural draftsman. Among his most well-known works are "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte," "Bathers at Asnières," and "The Parade." Georges-Pierre Seurat died on March 29, 1891, in Paris, on Boulevard de Magenta, leaving a significant mark on the history of French art and culture of the Post-Impressionist era.
