Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes was born on March 30, 1746, in Fuendetodos, Spain. He is regarded as one of the earliest and most notable artists of the Romantic era and was also active in the Rococo style. Goya was a painter, draftsman, printmaker, lithographer, etching master, and an important figure in the visual arts. Throughout his career, he produced works in the genres of battle painting, portraiture, mythological scenes, historical and religious painting, as well as genre scenes and still lifes. Some of his well-known works include "The Nude Maja," "The Third of May 1808 in Madrid," "The Uprising of May 2, 1808 in Madrid," and "Caprichos." Francisco Goya passed away on April 16, 1828, in Bordeaux, France.
