Biography

Ferdinand Hodler was born on March 14, 1853, in Bern, Switzerland. He is recognized as one of the major representatives of Art Nouveau and Symbolism. Hodler was a Swiss artist whose work spanned various artistic disciplines, including pastel painting, lithography, design, drawing, and university teaching. Some of his notable works include "La Pointe d'Andey, vallée de l'Arve," "Madame Valentine Godé-Darel malade," and "The Patient." He passed away on May 19, 1918, in Geneva. His artistic activity is associated with the styles of Art Nouveau and Symbolism. Ferdinand Hodler holds a prominent place in the history of Swiss art, and his works feature a wide range of forms and techniques, including monumental art, watercolor, frescoes, and graphic art.
