Zühtü Müridoğlu (1906–1992) was a Turkish sculptor born and deceased in Istanbul. He was among the first representatives of the "republican generation" in Turkish sculpture and closely connected to both Turkey and the Ottoman Empire throughout his life.
Biography
Zühtü Müridoğlu was born on January 26, 1906, in Istanbul, then a part of the Ottoman Empire. He was a Turkish sculptor and became known as one of the first artists belonging to the so-called "republican generation." His creative work forms part of the cultural heritage of Turkey and the Ottoman Empire. Throughout his life, Zühtü Müridoğlu remained tied to his hometown of Istanbul, where he died on August 21, 1992. Over a long career, he made a notable contribution to the development of Turkish sculpture in the 20th century.
