Biography
Alejandro Xul Solar was born on December 14, 1887, in San Fernando, Argentina. A multifaceted figure, he was an artist, sculptor, writer, astrologer, and architect. His artistic practice prominently included portraiture, geometric abstraction, and figurativism. He engaged with various artistic movements such as magical realism, futurism, surrealism, modernism, expressionism, symbolism, and Catalan modernism. His works are part of notable museum collections including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and the Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires (MALBA), as well as the Amalia Lacroze de Fortabat Art Collection and the National Museum of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires. Alejandro Xul Solar died on April 9, 1963, in Tigre, Argentina.
