Vladimir Lebedev
Vladimir Vasilyevich Lebedev (1891–1967) was a Russian and Soviet artist, graphic designer, and master of posters, book, and magazine illustration. He founded the Leningrad school of book graphics and was awarded the title of People's Artist of the RSFSR in 1966.
Biography
Vladimir Vasilyevich Lebedev was born on May 14, 1891, in Saint Petersburg. He was a Russian and Soviet painter and graphic artist recognized for his mastery in posters, as well as book and magazine illustrations. Lebedev founded the Leningrad school of book graphics, significantly influencing the development of this artistic direction. In 1966, he was honored with the title of People's Artist of the RSFSR. The following year, in 1967, Lebedev became a corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Arts. Throughout his life, he was connected to Saint Petersburg, where he also died on November 21, 1967. His creative activity was linked to the Russian Empire, the RSFSR, the USSR, and contemporary Russia.
