Biography
Victor Brauner was born on June 15, 1903, in Piatra Neamț. He was a Romanian and French artist whose professions included painter, graphic artist, sculptor, designer, and draftsman. Throughout his creative career, Brauner was a prominent participant in the Surrealist group. He also worked within the movements of Expressionism, Futurism, Cubism, Symbolism, and was associated with the Salonul Oficial. His artistic legacy represents a fusion of European avant-garde styles with exotic archetypes of indigenous peoples of North and South America. Victor Brauner died on March 12, 1966, in Paris.
