Vasyl Krychevsky
Vasyl Krychevsky (1872–1952) was a Ukrainian Soviet painter, architect, graphic artist, and film artist. He was a founder of the Ukrainian Academy of Arts and was named Honored Art Worker of the Ukrainian SSR in 1940.
Biography
Vasyl Hryhorovych Krychevsky was born on December 31, 1872, in Vorozhba. He was a Ukrainian Soviet painter, architect, graphic artist, and film artist. His professional work encompassed genres such as architecture, portraiture, and graphic art. Krychevsky was among the founders of the Ukrainian Academy of Arts. In 1940, he was awarded the title of Honored Art Worker of the Ukrainian SSR. His notable works include the House of the Poltava Provincial Zemstvo and the Taras Shevchenko Literary Memorial House-Museum. Throughout his life, Vasyl Krychevsky was connected with the Russian Empire, the Ukrainian People's Republic, the USSR, and Venezuela in terms of his national and cultural affiliations. He died on November 15, 1952, in Caracas.
