Vasyl Kasiian
Vasyl Kasiian (1896–1976) was a Soviet graphic artist and educator. Born in Mykulyntsi, he was named People's Artist of the USSR in 1944, became an academician of the Academy of Arts of the USSR in 1947, and was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labour in 1974.
Biography
Vasyl Iliych Kasiian was born on January 1, 1896, in Mykulyntsi. Throughout his life, he was connected to Austria-Hungary, the Western Ukrainian People's Republic, Czechoslovakia, and the USSR. Kasiian was a Soviet graphic artist, poster artist, educator, and military serviceman. In 1944, he received the title People's Artist of the USSR. In 1947, he was elected an academician of the Academy of Arts of the USSR. For his achievements, he was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labour in 1974. Vasyl Iliych passed away on June 29, 1976, in Kyiv. His professional activities also included teaching and pedagogy in the field of visual arts.
