Biography

Vasily Grigorievich Perov was born on December 21, 1833, in Tobolsk. He was a Russian artist associated with the Realism movement and one of the leading figures of the Moscow school of art during the post-reform period. Perov was a consistent advocate of democratic realism in painting. In addition to his artistic work, he was engaged in teaching and authored works related to art. His creative output developed within the cultural traditions of the Russian Empire. Perov passed away on May 29, 1882, in Kuzminki.
