Biography

Vangelis was a Greek musician, composer, and film composer born on March 29, 1943, in Agria, Greece. He became one of the pioneers of electronic music and worked across several genres such as new age, ambient, progressive rock, and film music. As a keyboardist and music producer, Vangelis significantly influenced the development of modern electronic and soundtrack music. Among his renowned works are the soundtrack for the film 'Chariots of Fire,' and compositions for 'Blade Runner' and '1492: Conquest of Paradise.' His album with the group Aphrodite’s Child, entitled '666,' also received recognition. Vangelis passed away on May 17, 2022, in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, France.
