Tristan Tzara
Tristan Tzara (1896–1963) was a Romanian and French poet of Jewish origin, a founder of Dadaism. He worked in poetry and pamphlets, and was a writer, playwright, translator, and key figure in avant-garde movements.
Biography
Tristan Tzara was born on April 16, 1896, in Moinești, Romania. He was a Romanian and French poet of Jewish origin and one of the founders of Dadaism. In his work, Tzara operated in the genres of poetry and pamphlets, and was involved in the Dadaist and Surrealist movements. His career encompassed a wide range of roles including poet, writer, playwright, essayist, film director, translator, art collector, diplomat, performance artist, literary critic, member of the French Resistance, illustrator, photographer, activist, and artist. He maintained cultural ties with both Romania and France. Tristan Tzara passed away on December 25, 1963, in the 7th arrondissement of Paris.
