Thawan Duchanee
Thawan Duchanee (1939–2014) was a Thai artist, architect, sculptor, and social worker known for his work in surrealism and Buddhist art. In 2001, he was named a National Artist of Thailand in visual arts. He is notable for the Baan Dam Museum project.

Thawan Duchanee was born on September 27, 1939, in Mueang Chiang Rai, Thailand. He was a renowned Thai artist, architect, sculptor, and social worker. Duchanee's creative work exhibits elements of surrealism and Buddhist art, reflecting these artistic currents in his approach. His works achieved international recognition. In 2001, Duchanee was awarded the title of National Artist of Thailand in the field of visual arts, highlighting his significant role in the country's culture. Among his important projects is the Baan Dam Museum, which embodies his artistic vision and stands as a well-known cultural landmark. Thawan Duchanee passed away on September 3, 2014, at Ramkhamhaeng Hospital.
