Biography

Thalia Flora-Karavia was born in 1871 in Siatista, Greece. She was a distinguished artist whose body of work includes more than 2,500 oil paintings as well as a large number of drawings and watercolors. Over the course of her life, which ended in Athens in 1960, Flora-Karavia produced an extensive artistic legacy that constitutes an important part of modern Greek art. Her artistic contributions distinguish her as one of the most significant and prolific Greek women artists. Despite the quantity and importance of her works, they have yet to be fully documented in catalogs, indicating considerable potential for further research and promotion of her art.
