Tamara de Lempicka
Tamara de Lempicka (1898–1980) was a Polish artist known for her elegant Art Deco portraits of aristocrats and wealthy patrons, as well as stylized nudes. Born in Warsaw, she worked mainly in France and the USA and died in Cuernavaca.
Biography
Tamara de Lempicka was born on May 16, 1898, in Warsaw, which at the time was part of the Russian Empire. She was an artist and cultural figure most recognized as a representative of the Art Deco style. Lempicka's creative career developed primarily in France and the United States. She gained renown for her refined portraits of aristocrats and wealthy clients, as well as stylized depictions of nude female models, working mainly within the genres of portraiture and nude. Her artistic legacy also includes still lifes. Some of her notable works include "La belle Rafaëla" and "Self-Portrait (Tamara in a Green Bugatti)." Tamara de Lempicka died on March 18, 1980, in Cuernavaca. Throughout her life, she maintained connections with the culture and history of Poland and the Russian Empire.
