Sumet Jumsai

Biography

Sumet Jumsai was born on March 30, 1939, in Bangkok, Thailand. He is recognized as an architect, artist, and author. In 1998, he was honored as a National Artist of Thailand. In 2001, he was awarded the title of Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects. The following year, in 2002, he became a member of the French Academy of Architecture. He served as a Fellow Commoner at St John’s College, Cambridge University, in both 2003 and 2013, where he had previously defended his doctoral dissertation in architecture. In 2008, Sumet was made a Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters of France. These honors reflect the international recognition of his architectural and creative work.
