Signe Baumane

Biography

Signe Baumane was born on August 7, 1964, in the city of Auce, Latvia, which was then part of the USSR. She is a Latvian animator, artist, illustrator, and writer. Baumane currently lives and works in New York. She is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Alongside her creative work, Signe has also been involved in teaching animation; from 2000 to 2002, she taught animation at the Pratt Institute. Among her well-known works are the films "Rocks in My Pockets" and "Woman." Her professional career encompasses roles as an artist, writer, animator, and film director. Signe Baumane maintains cultural ties to Latvia and the USSR as her countries of origin and national identity.
