Sergey Ivanovich Kalmykov (1891–1967) was a Russian and Kazakh artist, illustrator, decorator, and writer. Born in Samarkand and died in Almaty, he was an avant-garde artist and the only Silver Age master to live until the late 1960s.

Sergey Ivanovich Kalmykov was born on October 6, 1891, in Samarkand. He was a Russian and Kazakh artist, illustrator, decorator, and writer. In his artistic pursuits, Kalmykov became an avant-garde artist and was the only master of the Silver Age to live until the late 1960s. His works have no direct parallels in the history of world art. During his creative career, he developed a unique painting style sometimes referred to as "fantastic expressionism." He passed away on April 27, 1967, in the city of Almaty. Throughout his life, he was connected to the cultural milieus of the Russian Empire and the USSR.
