Serena de la Hey is a British and Kenyan sculptor born in 1967 in Eldoret, Kenya. Since the early 1990s, she has lived in Somerset, England. She is best known for her 12-meter willow sculpture, Willow Man, created in 2001 near Bridgwater.
Biography
Serena de la Hey was born in 1967 in Eldoret, Kenya. She holds a dual cultural identity, being both British and Kenyan. Since the early 1990s, she has resided in the English county of Somerset. Professionally, she is a sculptor. Her most recognizable work is the monumental sculpture Willow Man, which stands approximately 12 meters tall and is made of willow rods. This sculpture is located near the town of Bridgwater. Completed in the autumn of 2001, it attracted significant attention due to its scale and the materials used. Serena de la Hey is known as an artist whose work is closely connected with her place of residence and the use of natural materials.
