Sattar Bahlulzade

Biography

Sattar Bahlul oglu Bahlulzade was born on December 2, 1909, in Amirjan. He was a Soviet Azerbaijani artist who worked mainly in the genres of landscape, portrait, still life, and historical painting. His work is associated with the impressionist movement. The core of Bahlulzade's creativity consists of large lyrical landscapes dedicated to the nature of Azerbaijan. Throughout different periods of his life, he belonged to the cultural and national communities of the Russian Empire, the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, and the USSR. For his achievements in art, Sattar Bahlul oglu was awarded the title of Honored Art Worker of the Azerbaijan SSR in 1960 and People's Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR in 1963. In 1972, he became a laureate of the State Prize of the Azerbaijan SSR. Additionally, the artist was awarded two Orders of the Red Banner of Labour. Sattar Bahlul oglu Bahlulzade passed away on October 13, 1974, in Moscow.
