Ryūryūkyo Shinsai created works in the ukiyo-e genre, which was widely popular during the Edo period and depicted everyday life, theatrical scenes, and portraits of notable individuals. His contribution to art belongs to the culture of the Tokugawa Shogunate, characterized by the development of traditional Japanese artistic forms. He died in 1820, concluding his life and artistic career toward the end of the Edo period.
