Romare Bearden
Romare Bearden (1911–1988) was an American artist, writer, and musician. Born in Charlotte and raised in New York and Pittsburgh, he worked in abstraction, cubism, and social realism using collage, oil painting, and drawing. He graduated from New York University.

Romare Howard Bearden was born on September 2, 1911, in Charlotte. He grew up in New York and Pittsburgh, where he developed as a versatile artist and creator. In 1935, he graduated from New York University. His artistic work encompassed painting, collage, drawing, and printmaking, while he also wrote and composed music. His creative path is associated with abstraction, cubism, and social realism, reflected in genres of everyday life and socially themed projects. Among his notable works is Untitled ("City of Light"). Romare Bearden died on March 12, 1988, in New York. His professional activity spans artistic creation in the United States, where he gained recognition as a collage artist, painter, writer, and musician.
