Romans Suta
Romans Suta (1896–1944) was a Latvian artist, designer, educator, sculptor, ceramist, and illustrator. A member of the Riga Artists Group, he was a co-founder of the Baltars porcelain painting workshop.

Romans Suta was born on April 28, 1896, in Dzerben parish. He was a Latvian artist, designer, educator, sculptor, ceramist, and illustrator. Suta was a member of the Riga Artists Group, which united artists working across various artistic directions. He was one of the founders of the Baltars workshop for painting porcelain products, highlighting his contribution to applied arts. His work encompassed realism and cubism, reflecting the aesthetic trends of his time and artistic diversity. Romans Suta represented several cultural and national traditions — the Russian Empire, Latvia, and the USSR — as seen in his biography and art. He died on July 14, 1944, in Tbilisi.
