Biography

Robert Ernest Milton Rauschenberg was born on October 22, 1925, in Port Arthur. He was an American artist with cultural and national ties to both Germany and the United States. Rauschenberg's work encompassed movements such as abstract expressionism, conceptual art, and pop art. He was a pioneer in the creation of modular art and the founder of the combined painting approach. Throughout his career, Rauschenberg extensively used collage and readymade techniques, incorporating trash and various waste materials as part of his artistic process. His professional activities were diverse, including roles as an artist, sculptor, collagist, photographer, theater designer, scenographer, choreographer, printmaker, designer, performance artist, architectural draftsman, jewelry designer, and graphic artist. He was connected with artistic movements such as Neo-Dada, Postmodernism, modernism, and contemporary art. Among his notable works is the piece "Canyon." Robert Rauschenberg died on May 12, 2008, in Captiva.
