Raoul Hausmann

Biography

Raoul Hausmann was born on July 12, 1886, in Vienna. He was an Austrian and German artist and art theorist, recognized as one of the founders of the Dada movement. Throughout his creative career, Hausmann showed versatility, working as a painter, sculptor, poet, illustrator, collage artist, visual poet, as well as a journalist and art figure. In addition to his artistic work, he was also an ethnologist and art historian. Over the course of his life, Hausmann made a significant contribution to the development of avant-garde art through his experiments and theoretical research. Raoul Hausmann passed away on February 1, 1971, in Limoges. His national and cultural identity encompassed both Austria and Germany, which is reflected in various aspects of his work and biography.
