Ramón Subercaseaux Vicuña
Ramón Subercaseaux Vicuña (1854–1937) was a Chilean painter, diplomat, and politician. He served as a senator and Chile's minister of foreign affairs. Born in Valparaíso, he was also known for his friendship with John Singer Sargent. He was the father of artist and monk Pedro Subercaseaux.

Ramón Subercaseaux Vicuña was born on April 10, 1854, in Valparaíso, Chile. He was a Chilean painter, diplomat, politician, and writer who spent many years in Europe balancing his artistic and public careers. From 1906 to 1913, he served as a senator, and in 1915 he was appointed Chile's minister of foreign affairs. Among his notable connections was a friendship with the American painter John Singer Sargent. Ramón Subercaseaux was the father of Pedro Subercaseaux (1880–1956), who became a recognized painter and Catholic monk. Ramón Subercaseaux died on January 19, 1937, in Viña del Mar.
