Ralph Hotere
Ralph Hotere (1931–2013) was a New Zealand artist, sculptor, and arts figure. Born in Mitimiti, New Zealand, he made significant contributions to the national art scene. He received an honorary doctorate from the University of Otago in 1994 and the Icon Award from the Arts Foundation of New Zealand in 2003. He died in Dunedin.

Biography
Ralph Hotere (full name Hone Papita Raukura Hotere) was born on August 11, 1931, in the settlement of Mitimiti in northern New Zealand. He was a prominent New Zealand artist, sculptor, and cultural figure who made substantial contributions to the national art of New Zealand throughout his life. In 1994, Hotere was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Otago. Later, in 2003, he received the prestigious Icon Award from the Arts Foundation of New Zealand. Ralph Hotere passed away on February 24, 2013, in the city of Dunedin. His work and activities remain closely connected to the culture and art of New Zealand, where he is widely recognized and respected.
