Ragna Sigurðardóttir

Ragna Sigurðardóttir (born August 10, 1962, Reykjavik) is an Icelandic writer, poet, and artist. Educated at the Jan Van Eyck Academy in the Netherlands and studied French language and visual arts in Aix-en-Provence. She debuted in 1987 with her collection of stories and poems, 'Stefnumót'.

Biography

Ragna Sigurðardóttir was born on August 10, 1962, in Reykjavik, Iceland. She is a writer, poet, and artist. Ragna pursued her education in the arts at the Jan Van Eyck Academy in the Netherlands and also spent time studying in Denmark. Additionally, she studied French language and visual arts in Aix-en-Provence. In 1987, she made her literary debut with a collection of her stories and poems titled "Stefnumót" ("Date"). This was followed by other collections, including "Fallegri en flugeldar" and "27 herbergi." Her debut novel "Borg" was nominated for the Icelandic Literary Prize. Subsequent works include "Skot," "Strengir," "Hið fullkomna landslag," "Bónusstelpan," "Vinkonur," and "Þetta rauða, það er ástin" (2022). In 2019, her collection of stories "Vetrargulrætur" was published and received widespread critical acclaim. Throughout her career, Ragna Sigurðardóttir's works have been repeatedly longlisted for the International Dublin Literary Award.
