Biography

Polykleitos the Younger was an ancient Greek architect and sculptor who worked during the 4th century BCE. He was born around 400 BCE in the city of Argos, located in a region of Greece. The exact date and place of his death are unknown, but it is generally accepted that he passed away around 360 BCE. During his career, he worked in Epidaurus. The name "Polykleitos the Younger" is used to distinguish him from Polykleitos the Elder, to whom he was likely related, possibly as a grandson. Among Polykleitos the Younger's significant works is the architectural construction of the theater at Epidaurus, as well as several statues at Olympia, including statues of Agenor, Xenocles, and Pythocles. His activities are closely linked to ancient Greek culture and art, contributing to sculpture and architecture of antiquity.
