Piotr Buchkin
Piotr Dmitrievich Buchkin (1886–1965) was a Russian painter and graphic artist known for his realist portraits. Active mainly in Saint Petersburg—Leningrad, he was also a teacher and memoirist. In 1956, he was honored as an Art Worker of the RSFSR.
Biography
Piotr Dmitrievich Buchkin was born on January 22, 1886, in Bolshoy Sofronovo. He was a Russian painter and graphic artist active during the Silver Age and the early Soviet decades, primarily working in Saint Petersburg–Leningrad. Buchkin’s work followed the realist tradition, focusing largely on portraiture. Beyond his painting career, he was an art educator and memoirist, contributing notably to Russia’s artistic life. In 1956, he was awarded the honorary title of Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR. Buchkin lived and created through the eras of the Russian Empire, the RSFSR, and the USSR. He passed away on June 21, 1965, in Saint Petersburg.
