Biography

Piero Manzoni was born on July 13, 1933, in Soncino, Italy. He was an Italian artist and art figure known for his conceptual and abstract works. Manzoni was among the founders of the Arte Povera movement, which led to the creation of a new form of art known as Shock Art. His paintings and objects served as a distinctive response to the works of Yves Klein. Among his most notable pieces are Artist’s Shit, Achromes, Lines, Air Bodies, and the Manifesto of International Exhibitions of Nothing. In addition to painting, he was also a sculptor, draughtsman, photographer, and author. Piero Manzoni passed away on February 6, 1963, in Milan. Throughout his creative activity, he advocated the ideas of conceptual art, leaving a significant mark on the history of 20th-century art.
