Peter Weiss
Peter Ulrich Weiss (November 8, 1916 – May 10, 1982) was a German writer, artist, playwright, director, and screenwriter. His work is culturally connected to Germany, Sweden, Czechoslovakia, and the United Kingdom. He also worked as an illustrator and librettist.
Biography
Peter Ulrich Weiss was born on November 8, 1916, in Novaves. As a multifaceted artist, he combined roles as a writer, artist, playwright, director, screenwriter, and illustrator. His creative career spanned several countries and cultural contexts, including Germany, Sweden, Czechoslovakia, and the United Kingdom. Weiss was also known as a librettist, film producer, production designer, and musician. Among his notable works are "The Aesthetics of Resistance," "Leavetaking," "The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton Under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade," and "Fluchtpunkt." Peter Weiss died on May 10, 1982, in Stockholm.
