Pedro Nel Gómez Agudelo was born on July 4, 1899, in the city of Anorí, Colombia. He was a civil engineer, artist, sculptor, architect, and figure in the plastic arts. His creative work spanned numerous fields of art and engineering. Pedro Nel Gómez Agudelo is most renowned as a muralist. Together with Santiago Martínez Delgado, he founded the Colombian muralist movement, which was inspired by the Mexican muralist movement and centered on nationalist, social, and political messages in its works. Pedro Nel Gómez Agudelo died on June 6, 1984, in Medellín, Colombia.
