Pavol Demeš

Pavol Demeš, born in 1956 in Vrable, Slovakia, is an artist, photographer, and politician. He served as Slovakia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs in the federal government of Czechoslovakia from 1991 to 1992. Currently, he works as a Transatlantic Fellow at the German Marshall Fund office in Bratislava.

Biography

Pavol Demeš was born in 1956 in the city of Vrable, located in present-day Slovakia. He is professionally active as an artist, photographer, and politician. During the significant political transformations following the Velvet Revolution, from 1991 to 1992, Demeš served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia within the federal government of Czechoslovakia. In this capacity, he was involved in diplomatic processes on the eve of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. After concluding his political career, Pavol Demeš continued his work in international cooperation and diplomacy. He is currently a Transatlantic Fellow at the Bratislava office of the German Marshall Fund.
