Pancho Fierro
Pancho Fierro (1807–1879) was a Peruvian artist and watercolorist of mixed Indigenous and Afro-Peruvian descent. Born and died in Lima, he is known for his costumbrista watercolors that depict the culture of the Viceroyalty of Peru and Peru.
Biography
Francisco “Pancho” Fierro Palas was born on October 5, 1807, in Lima, then part of the Viceroyalty of Peru, the territory that would become modern Peru. He was of mixed Indigenous and Afro-Peruvian ancestry. Fierro was an artist and watercolorist primarily associated with costumbrista painting, making him a significant figure in 19th-century Peruvian art. His works portray local customs, traditions, and daily life within the Viceroyalty and later Peru itself. Pancho Fierro died on July 28, 1879, in Lima, leaving behind an extensive artistic legacy that reflects the cultural characteristics of the Viceroyalty of Peru and Peru.
