Oswaldo Vigas
Oswaldo Vigas (1926–2014) was a Venezuelan artist and physician born in Valencia. He worked as a painter, sculptor, and creator of monumental murals. His oeuvre includes painting, graphics, ceramics, and tapestries, blending Pre-Columbian heritage with modern artistic movements.
Biography
Oswaldo Vigas was born on August 4, 1926, in Valencia, Venezuela. In addition to his artistic career, he was also a physician. As an artist, he worked as a painter, sculptor, and creator of monumental murals. His creative legacy includes paintings, graphics, drawings, ceramics, and tapestries. Vigas successfully integrated Pre-Columbian artistic heritage with contemporary and modernist art trends. He lived and worked both in France and Venezuela. Oswaldo Vigas passed away on April 22, 2014, in Caracas, Venezuela.
