Osman Hamdi Bey
Osman Hamdi Bey (1842–1910) was a Turkish painter, archaeologist, art historian, and anthropologist from the Ottoman Empire. Born in Istanbul, he founded and directed the Istanbul Archaeological Museum and the Academy of Fine Arts in Istanbul.

Osman Hamdi Bey was born on December 30, 1842, in Istanbul, then part of the Ottoman Empire. He was a multifaceted individual—painter, archaeologist, art historian, anthropologist, and politician. In his creative work, Osman Hamdi specialized in portrait and figurative genres. One of his well-known works is "The Tortoise Trainer." As a public figure, he played a key role in the cultural life of the Ottoman Empire, founding and directing the Istanbul Archaeological Museum and the Academy of Fine Arts in Istanbul, now known as the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. Osman Hamdi Bey passed away on February 24, 1910, in Eskişehir.
