Olga Costa

Biography

Olga Costa was born in 1913 in Leipzig, Germany. At the start of her artistic career, she enrolled at the San Carlos Academy but left after three months to support her family. During her studies, she met her future husband, the artist José Chávez Morado. Through him, she became engaged in the cultural and intellectual life of Mexico. His support fostered the development of her painting skills and independent artistic work. Throughout her life, Olga Costa held numerous exhibitions in Mexico, and her works were also sold in the United States. In addition to her creative activities, she participated in the founding and development of galleries, cultural societies, and three museums in the Mexican state of Guanajuato. She died on June 28, 1993, in Guanajuato. Her professional fields included painting, graphics, and engraving.
