Olga Albizu

Olga Albizu (1924-2005) was an abstract expressionist artist from Ponce, Puerto Rico. She was the first woman on the island to fully dedicate herself to abstract art. Albizu lived and worked in the United States and died in New York City.

Biography

Olga Albizu Rosaly was born on May 31, 1924, in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She became known as an artist working in the style of abstract expressionism. Albizu was the first woman in Puerto Rico to devote herself to abstract art, making her a pioneer in this field in her country. During her life, she resided in the United States, where she continued her creative work. Olga Albizu died on July 30, 2005, in New York City. Her works and contributions to art continue to draw interest and remain preserved in the cultural heritage of both the United States and Puerto Rico.
