Olena Kulchytska
Olena Kulchytska (1877–1967) was a Soviet Ukrainian artist and graphic designer born in Berezhany. She worked primarily in graphic arts, also teaching art and engaging in crafts. Kulchytska died in Lviv, having contributed to 20th-century art within diverse cultural contexts.
Biography
Olena Lvovna Kulchytska was born on September 15, 1877, in the town of Berezhany, which at that time was part of Austria-Hungary. She became a Soviet Ukrainian artist specializing in graphic arts. Throughout her creative and professional career, she was involved not only in visual art as a graphic artist but also in art education and crafts. Kulchytska’s work and life were connected with the cultural and national traditions of Austria-Hungary, Poland, and the USSR, reflecting the trajectory of her personal and artistic development. She passed away on March 8, 1967, in Lviv. Her multifaceted activities in drawing and graphics made a noticeable contribution to the art of the 20th century.
