Nhất Linh
Nhất Linh, born Nguyễn Tường Tam on July 25, 1906, in Cẩm Giàng, Vietnam, was a writer, journalist, politician, and artist. In 1932, he founded the literary group and publishing house Tự Lực Văn Đoàn in Hanoi, which published influential literary magazines.
Biography
Nhất Linh, whose real name was Nguyễn Tường Tam, was born on July 25, 1906, in the city of Cẩm Giàng, Vietnam. His work spanned literature, journalism, politics, and art. In colonial Hanoi, he was known as a writer, editor, and publisher. In 1932, Nhất Linh founded the literary group and publishing house Tự Lực Văn Đoàn, which played an important role in the development of Vietnamese literature. As part of the group, he also launched the literary magazines Phong Hóa and Ngày Nay ("Today"), which featured many influential novels of the 1930s inspired by the realism movement. His contributions to Vietnamese culture and literature are recognized as significant. Nhất Linh died on July 7, 1963, in the city of Ho Chi Minh.
