Nguyễn Trinh Thi is a Vietnamese artist, filmmaker, and documentarian born in Hanoi. She works as an independent director and video artist, recognized for her multilayered, personal, and poetic approach to contentious histories and contemporary events through experimentation with moving images. Nguyễn Trinh Thi is considered one of the pioneers of independent cinema in her native Vietnam as well as the most prominent video artist in the contemporary Vietnamese art scene. Her work plays an important role in Vietnamese cinema and has been showcased at international festivals and exhibitions.
