Nazlı Ecevit
Nazlı Ecevit (1900–1985) was a Turkish realist artist and educator, active in the cultural life of the Ottoman Empire and Turkey. Born in Istanbul, she contributed significantly to Turkey’s artistic and educational spheres. She was the mother of Turkish Prime Minister Bülent Ecevit.
Biography
Nazlı Ecevit was born on January 4, 1900, in Istanbul, then part of the Ottoman Empire. She became a noted realist artist and educator, dedicating her life to art and education. Throughout her life, she was involved in the cultural milieu of both the Ottoman Empire and the Republic of Turkey. Her creative work and teaching made a meaningful contribution to the artistic landscape of Turkey in her era. Nazlı Ecevit was the mother of Bülent Ecevit, who later served as Prime Minister of Turkey. She lived a long life and passed away on August 14, 1985, in Ankara.
