Biography

Mykhaylo Andreyevich Berkos was born on August 22, 1861, in Odesa. He was a Ukrainian artist of Greek descent, specializing in landscape painting. Throughout his creative career, he was notably influenced by European Impressionism. Berkos executed most of his works in oil and watercolor. His paintings often focused on the theme of Ukrainian nature, reflecting his cultural roots and interest in the local environment. During the period of the Russian Empire, Berkos was among the artists who developed the Impressionist painting style within the territory of Ukraine. Mykhaylo Andreyevich Berkos passed away on December 20, 1919, in Kharkiv.
