Moy Yat (1938–2001) was a Chinese martial artist, painter, seal carver, teacher, and author. He studied under the legendary Wing Chun master Ip Man from 1957 until Ip Man’s death in 1972.
Biography
Moy Yat (梅逸) was a Chinese martial artist, painter, seal carver, teacher, and author. He was born on June 28, 1938, and died on January 23, 2001. From 1957 until the death of Ip Man in 1972, Moy Yat was a student of the legendary Wing Chun master Ip Man. In addition to martial arts, Moy Yat practiced painting and seal carving. His professional activities included teaching and writing, reflecting his contribution to Chinese culture. Moy Yat left a significant mark in the fields of martial arts and Chinese artistic tradition, holding a unique position as both a practitioner and a creator.
