Mitrofan Grekov
Mitrofan Borisovich Grekov (1882–1934) was a Russian and Soviet painter known as a leading battle scene artist of early Socialist Realism. He was born in Sharpaevka and died in Sevastopol. Grekov is recognized for his large-scale paintings depicting events of the Civil War.

Mitrofan Borisovich Grekov was born on June 3, 1882, in the settlement of Sharpaevka in the Russian Empire. He became a Russian and Soviet artist, recognized as one of the most significant battle painters of early Socialist Realism. Grekov's work is characterized by large-scale canvases dedicated to the theme of the Civil War, in which he depicted scenes of battles and military life of that period. His paintings hold important artistic value in the history of Soviet painting. Grekov passed away on November 27, 1934, in Sevastopol. Throughout his life, he was connected to the artistic traditions of both the Russian Empire and the USSR.
